The introduction of broadband services presents both challenges and opportunities. On the one hand, investment is needed in new infrastructure, but on the other, a new range of applications becomes possible.

One of the major areas where a 'win-win' can be achieved is by finding areas of common interest between the public and private sectors, with a view to sharing a common infrastructure to address different - but often overlapping - needs.

Taking broadband education as an example, Peter Radley, who is both the leader of a telecommunications multinational and a commited local school governor, will help us to understand the potential of broadband technology to support schools and businesses at the same time.

Cambridge Network is inviting a panel from local public and private sector organisations to participate in a Q & A session after Peter's presentation. The evening will also provide time for three 'elevator pitches' from Cambridge Network members, as well as our traditional Networking opportunities.
