Devised by the Learning & Performance Institute, and recognised as the L&D sector’s premier awards ceremony, this was the 22nd annual Learning Awards.

The Learning and Performance Institute remarked that there had been a record number of submissions from individuals and organisations from across the globe including many of the world’s leading brands.

Virtual College’s Head of Learning Technology Consultancy, Hayley Khan, won silver for Rising Star of the Year, a new award which recognises up-and-coming talent within organisations.

Hayley’s success received ringing endorsements from her customers:

“Hayley took time to understand our requirements in detail - her focus was on us as the customer, not on selling a solution,” said Mark Heholt of Tech Partnership.

Greg Ward’s EEF commented: “Hayley has such a natural professional style that is rare. I expect Fujitsu, along with IKEA, to be a platform for huge success.”

Virtual College’s Instructional Design Manager, John Hinchliffe, collected the bronze award for Learning Professional of the Year.

John is a committed advocate of digital learning. His philosophy is “to spread great immersive digital learning to the masses within their budget and technological abilities.”

His customers endorse his commitment:

“John was helpful, focused and came up with some creative solutions to meet our needs,” said Joy Hooper, Project Manager, JISC.

Phoebe Schlesinger, Project Manager at Walkgrove, said: “John’s communication - always peppered with a good dose of humour - has been invaluable in keeping the project moving forward smoothly”.

The 2018 Awards was hosted by TV star, Tess Daly at the prestigious Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane, London.  It was live streamed around the world and attended by 400 industry guests and finalists.
