Kao, maker of beauty care brands, such as Molton Brown, John Frieda hair care and Goldwell professional salon products, has chosen Kallidus to provide a centralised learning platform for 3,500 staff across the US, Canada, Australia, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Kallidus Learning Management System (LMS) will go live in June 2014 across the US, Canada and Australia, and in 2015 for the remaining locations, enabling the delivery of a more consistent learning experience to employees, customised to meet specific local needs. The new solution will enable Kao to provide a more comprehensive blend of training techniques including e-learning, webinars and classroom training and to deliver learning to tablets in addition to PCs.

Said Stephanie Brausch, Senior Manager of Talent Management at Kao:

“We chose Kallidus because the company offered a global solution that could be customised locally and would support content from a wide variety of sources. We were particularly impressed with Kallidus’ m-learning capabilities as it is essential for us to be able to deliver learning when and where it is needed. We have many employees who travel domestically and internationally with some beginning to move to an iPad only environment, and therefore m-learning was a key driver in our decision.”

With their existing LMS provider contract ending in December 2013, Kao conducted a thorough evaluation of the marketplace to find a more flexible and future-focused solution that could be integrated with the company’s existing HR systems.

Kallidus LMS will provide a central resource for training content for Kao employees, from compliance training to process and professional development. It will enable the company to reach geographically dispersed employees with great ease. Looking to the future, the LMS will support technical skills development and will enable Kao to provide a truly personalised approach to blended learning.

We particularly like the fact the Kallidus solution is scalable and so customisable. It will provide a central and consistent hub for training, which we can tailor to reflect our key learning objectives and brand. Kallidus is working in true partnership with us to set up the solution for our needs, rather than providing a one size fits all approach,” added Stephanie Brausch.

Rob Caul, CEO of Kallidus added: “Kao is committed to providing the highest level of training provision and has a strategic vision that supports the needs of individual learners while embracing the latest m-learning technologies. We are delighted to be providing a solution that will support the long-term business needs of Kao around the world.”
